4,400 pilgrims return on EgyptAir flights Thursday

Sameh Hefny, head of the Holding Company for EgyptAir, said there would be 16 flights that are set to bring back pilgrims from Saudi Arabia on Thursday as part of an air bridge dedicated to returning pilgrims to Cairo.

Thirteen flights in total are coming from King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah to the seasonal flights building at Cairo Airport.

"There are 3,550 pilgrims on board these flights," Hefny added.

In addition, three flights from Jeddah to Abuja and Lagos will come through Cairo. They are carrying 850 pilgrims from Nigeria, bringing the total pilgrims the company would transfer Thursday to 4,400.

The president of EgyptAir appealed to pilgrims to abide by the guidelines during the flights, to cooperate with the Egypt Air staff and to limit their baggage to the allowable weight.

A number of flights coming from Jeddah on Thursday experienced delays between 2-4 hours due to overcrowding.
