7 killed, 13 injured in fatal Sohag collision

A crash occurred on Friday at kilo 70 on the eastern desert road in Akhmim, Sohag, killing seven people and injuring 13 others.

The crash occurred between a taxi and a private car on the two-way road as the taxi driver was crossing another vehicle in front of him. The taxi collided with the private car which was coming in the opposite direction of the way, killing both drivers and five others including a two-year-old child and his mother.

The bodies of the deceased and the injured, who suffered from different fractures, were transferred to Akhmim Central Hospital, Sohag University Hospital, and Sohag General Hospital.

A claim was filed with the incident and prosecutors were notified for investigation.
