Al-Nour Party to meet over election failure Thursday

Chairman of al-Nour Party Younes Makhyoun announced Tuesday evening that the party's supreme body will meet on Thursday to discuss the results of the parliamentary elections, Al-Masry Al-Youm reported.
 
Makhyoun said the party would discuss its stance on the electoral process and the violations committed during the first phase of the elections.
 
Head of the Salafi Dawa Yasser Borhamy lamented the weak performance of al-Nour Party in the parliamentary elections in a recorded audio clip published Tuesday evening by the Salafi Dawa. Borhamy called on Salafi youth to rescue the Salafi movement.
 
Al-Nour Party leaders shutdown their cell phones and the official party's Facebook page stopped publishing news about the results of the elections due to the unexpecetdly shocking results.
 
The Salafi-led party, the only religiously-oriented group running in the race, has witnessed a steep fall in votes won for both list-based and individual seats in the west Delta precincts that are supposedly Salafi strongholds.
