Alexandria judges request protection from courtroom assaults

Thirty judges in Alexandria are holding an emergency meeting on Tuesday at the Manshiya Court to discuss securing courtrooms against potential assaults on judges during court sessions, particularly from the families of defendants.

“Lack of security inside courtrooms disrupts justice,” said Judge Mohamed Ezzat Agwa, adding that the military forces stationed at the courts told him they were only responsible for securing courts from the outside.

He called on Mohamed Tantawi, commander of the armed forces, and Prime Minister Essam Sharaf to resolve the problem.
