Alexandria tram burns for 3rd time in week

Unknown persons attacked Alexandria’s tram in the al-Wardian area for the third time this week, using Molotov cocktails which left it burned-out. No injuries were reported.

Residents gathered after the incident to condemn the practices of the Muslim Brotherhood, chanting slogans against the terrorist group.

Residents spoke to Al-Masry Al-Youm saying that the methods of the group threaten national security, adding that burning the tram indicates the Brotherhood is now fighting the masses, not just the government.

They also called on President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to take strict measures against the aggressors.

A statement by the Alexandria security department said security troops arrested one of the perpetrators.

The suspect admitted he belonged to the group and had instructions to carry out the crime to provoke the wrath of the locals.

A police report was filed, at which point the suspect was transferred to the prosecution for further questioning.
