Amendments to Police Authority Law rejected

Transitional Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ibrahim al-Heneidy, who is also the rapporteur for the Supreme Legislative Reform Committee, said the proposed amendments to the Police Authority Law were rejected because they allow the Interior Minister, after the approval of the Supreme Police Council, to transfer personnel to civil jobs if necessary, or if they commit violations.

The minister said civil jobs also have disciplinary standards and transferring police personnel who have violated their job standards to civil tasks would be irresponsible. Additionally, there are disciplinary councils that are concerned with such violations.
