Arab League chief to visit Baghdad Saturday in advance of Arab summit

Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa on Monday announced plans to visit Iraq on Saturday to make arrangements for an upcoming Arab summit, scheduled to convene in Baghdad in March.

In a statement to reporters, Moussa said that he planned to speak with Iraqi officials, both about the current situation in Iraq and the overall regional situation, in hopes of reaching consensus on all outstanding issues.

He went on to say he was scheduled to visit several areas in Iraq, including both Kurdistan in the north and the southern Shia-dominated region.

Moussa ruled out that the summit would be postponed for any reason.
