The High Dam railway station will become an important logistics area to exchange goods between Egypt and Sudan thus reducing the transport of containers via highways and replacing them by rail, Transport Minister Hesham Arafat announced on Monday.
The station will be refurbished and developed and new vehicles for modern container transports will be provided, he added.
During the inspection tour at the High Dam Station in Aswan Governorate on Monday, Arafat said a total of 251 containers with a weight up to 14,400 tons during the period from March 2018 until October were transported through the High Dam Station.
The minister also listened to an explanation by Hussein al-Rashidi, head of the Southern Region Railway Authority, regarding the development plan of the High Dam Station.
