Bassem Youssef, CBC contract still on

The contract between Comedian Bassem Youssef and private Satellite network CBC is still in force, according to a source at CBC.

Youssef's extremely popular political satire show, al-Bernameg, was pulled off airwaves after just one episode of the new season, the first since the army took over the country after the ouster of Mohamed Morsy, for what CBC described as "not adhering to the contract of the show."

Some rumors have said that CBC has ended its contract with Youssef after the second episode of the season was cancelled, something which was denied by the source.

"The channel management has not issued any press releases on the subject, as some have claimed," the source said. There hasn't been decided on a date to air the cancelled episode yet.

There is no agreement yet between to the two parties on the future of the show.

CBC has said that the reason behind not airing the second episode of the new season is the show producer not handing in the episodes agreed upon, despite receiving full financial dues, something which al-Bernameg have denied in a statement.
