Borhamy: Separating male and female students conforms to Sharia

Salafi Dawa Vice-President Yasser Borhamy announced on Monday that Islamic Sharia calls for the separation of male and female students in schools. He is praising the Muslim Brotherhood's successful push for gender segregation in several universities throughout Jordan.

In remarks published on the Salafi Dawa website, Borhamy said that accusing the Muslim Brotherhood in Jordan of being extremist for separating students in the universities is wrong, adding, “Such separation conforms to Sharia and Prophet Mohamed’s Sunna.”

“Prophet Mohamed used to separate males and females during prayer. He also prepared a special place for women to pray at during Eid. If he prayed with people, he used to wait until women finished their prayers,” Borhamy added.
