Cabinet denies power outages would be resolved in 45 days

The Cabinet denied on Monday statements attributed to Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb that the power outage problem would be resolved in 45 days when the new power stations are operated.

The Cabinet said the prime minister meant to say that the government is doing its utmost to end the problem as soon as possible by improving the capacity and raising the efficiency of the grid.

Electricity is cut off periodically in order to ease loads on power stations, as the government says there is a shortage of fuel. It also says it will build new stations to improve the service.
