Cabinet reshuffle to be declared soon: PM

Prime Minister Sherif Ismail declared several measures taken by the government on Wednesday to resume the anticipated cabinet reshuffle, in coordination with the Parliament.

He indicated that talks are ongoing over the reshuffle which will be announced soon.

In related news, Al-Masry Al-Youm was informed about a meeting three days ago between Ismail and Parliament Speaker Ali Abdel Aal at the presidential palace to decide on the reshuffle before submitting the proposal to the president. It will then be submitted to Parliament for a vote next week.

Informed sources said the meeting tackled several issues including the names of the candidates as well as possible changes to ministries.

The sources added that the reshuffle will include 10 ministries but will not include sovereign ministries. Two ministries will be merged together as many candidates did not accept the offered posts.

Two economic ministries and a service ministry will be included within the reshuffle. Ministers of education, higher education and health will be replaced, while the ministries of tourism and civil aviation will be merged, the sources elaborated.
