Cairo Airport authorities thwart attempt to smuggle mummified animals

Cairo Airport authorities have thwarted an attempt by a Qatari national to smuggle mummified animals to Doha.

Security guards stopped passenger Ahmed H. S. to inspect two boxes he carried. They found several mummified animals inside, including a fox, a wolf, a cobra, a falcon and a deer.

The Veterinary Quarantine and Wildlife Management authority at the Cairo Airport inspected the seizures, which proved to be real mummified animals.

Export of mummified animals are illegal, in accordance with Ministerial Decree No. 1150 for the year 1999.
