Cairo airport receives medical emergency alert against passengers of 9 countries

Quarantine authorities at Cairo airport on Saturday intensified medical inspection preparations for passengers coming from 9 countries after anĀ alert issued by the World Health Organization (WHO) on the spread of diseases.

Medical sources said that the quarantine authorities at the airport received a letter from the Department of Preventive Medicine of the Health Ministry to declare a state of emergency and to medically examine passengers from South Sudan, Uganda and Zambia, due to the spread of Rift Valley fever (RVF), as well as the passengers of Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia and Yemen, due to the Cholera epidemic, and nationals of Liberia and Benin, due to the spread of Lassa fever.

The sources said that the passengers from these countries are detected and recorded their data through a special card sent to the health directorates in the governorates to which the passengers will go to follow them and to ensure their safety.
