Cairo governor launches “Capital without Carts” initiative

Cairo Governor Atef Abdel Hamid has launched a new initiative called “Capital without Carts”, which is being discussed with the Social Solidarity Fund.

The Regional Union of Private Associations in Cairo (RUPAC) would participate to help drivers of carts switch to trucks or three-wheeled bikes instead, to help them develop their work through facilitated loans at the lowest interest rates and the longest repayment period.

During his meeting on Tuesday with Farag Suleiman, head of the Social Solidarity department in Cairo and Ezz Eddine Farghal, head of RUPAC, Abdel Hamid stressed the necessity of providing all the essential requirements to residents of collapsed buildings through cooperation with the union.

He also indicated cooperation with the union as the means to establish training crafts centers for women and youth in the neediest neighborhoods.
