Campaign launched to support disabled’s participation in poll

The Kayan Society for Children With Special Needs launched the “My voice is my right” campaign to support the right of people with disabilities to participate in the presidential election.

In a statement on its website, the Kayan Society said the campaign will include extended meetings with members of the Presidential Elections Commission, public figures, and presidential candidates in order to ensure the facilitation of voting for the 4 million Egyptians with disabilities in the upcoming presidential election.

According to the statement, the campaign will also hold public meetings with people with various disabilities in order to encourage them to play their part in determining Egypt’s future by voting in the first free presidential elections to take place in Egypt.

Kayan's Executive Director, Ayman al-Tantawi, said they recently called on the elections commission to assume full responsibility to facilitate the voting process for voters with various disabilities and to remove any obstacles that may hinder their participation.
