Court adjourns trial of officials accused of killing protesters in Daqahlia

Mansoura Criminal Court adjourned until Wednesday the trial of three Interior Ministry officials charged with killing protesters in Daqahlia during the 25 January revolution, in order to hear the testimony of a prosecution witness.

The court agreed once again to summon Major General Hassan Abdel Hamid through the Public Prosecution — on the request of the plaintiffs’ lawyers — after he failed to appear for testimony several times before.

The lawyers also asked to see all the records of the preceding trial sessions and the court called for expediting the submission of medical reports prepared by the medical examiner.

The court had on Monday resumed the trial of Major General Ahmed Abdel Basset, the former security chief of Daqahlia, Adel Mohamed al-Barbary, the head of the general department for Central Security for the East Delta, and other police officers and officials who are charged with killing three protesters and attempting to murder and injure 100 others.
