Egypt discovers 559 swine flu cases in a week

Egypt's Ministry of Health announced on Monday 559 people have tested positive for H1N1 over the past week.

The morbidity of the virus, commonly referred to as "swine flu," is still within the usual limits of seasonal flu, a ministry statement said.

The total number of cases from October 2010 until the present has reached 1172, of whom 56 have resulted in deaths.

The ministry advised citizens to seek medical treatment in case of infection, especially the elderly, children, pregnant women, and people with chronic diseases such as heart and chest problems, kidney diseases, liver trouble, and diabetes.

The statement pointed out that the Tamiflu vaccine is offered for free at ministry-run hospitals.
