Egypt falls off FIFA’s top-ten list following loss to Niger

Egypt's position on FIFA's top-ten list of world football teams proved short-lived as the African Nations Cup winner fell from tenth to 11th place in the latest edition of the list published on Wednesday.

Egypt had maintained its position on the list since May.

The Pharaohs' fall to 11th place means there are currently no African teams on the top-ten list.

Ghana moved up three places to come in 17th, while the Ivory Coast jumped four places to come in 19th.

Niger, meanwhile, which claimed a historic 1-0 victory over Egypt in an Africa Cup qualifying match earlier this month, leapt 54 places to come in 100th.

World and European champion Spain remains at the top of the list, while World Cup finalist Holland maintains second place, followed by Brazil.
