Egypt’s EGAS tenders for 45 cargoes LNG for 2015-16 shipment

Egypt's state-owned gas company EGAS has tendered to buy 45 cargoes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) for delivery in 2015/16, three sources said.

One of the sources said the cargoes are for delivery from October 2015 through to December 2016 for the country's second import terminal and offers are required by July 27.

Earlier this year Egypt issued a five-year tender to lease a second LNG import terminal, seeking to tackle an energy crisis as declining oil and gas output and increasing consumption has turned the country into a net energy importer.

The floating regasification and import terminal, which converts super-cooled LNG into gas, would be Egypt's second following the import terminal from Norway's Hoegh LNG , which began operating in April.
