Egypt’s ambassador to Moscow: We expect more Egyptian fans in the playoff against Russia

Egypt’s ambassador to Moscow, Ehab Nasr, said that the number of Egyptians and Arabs who attended the Egyptian match against Uruguay reached 27,000 fans.

Talking to Al-Masry Al-Youm, Nasr added that the number of Egyptians exceeded 20,000 fans during the last match, and expected a further increase in the second game against Russia in the city of St. Petersburg on Tuesday.

The Egyptian team played a great effort in the first game but wasn’t lucky, the ambassador said, adding that the winner of the “Best Player” award Mohamed al-Shennawi was a tribute to his efforts in the match.

The ambassador said that he was assured by the managing staff that the team players are in good morals after the game, and stated that he communicates with them permanently to overcome any obstacles.

The Egyptian Embassy in Moscow has allocated four consular points in the host cities for the national team’s matches, as well as the headquarters of the Egyptian Embassy in Moscow, where these points serve as operating rooms to respond to any emergencies from fans of the national team.

Egypt’s national football team lost its first match in the FIFA World Cup Russia 2018 at the last minute against Uruguay on Friday.

Russia and Uruguay came at the top of Group A, with both garnering three points so far while Egypt and Saudi Arabia have none.
