Egypt’s authorities plan to digitize state-owned newspapers

Egypt’s National Press Authority is in the process of finalizing a plan to transform state-owned press institutions into online journalism.

According to a statement by the authority on Saturday, this project is huge and is being implemented with the participation of the communications ministry and several major companies. The project will contribute to finding radical solutions to the paper press’s crises and increase rates of distribution and advertising.

This strategy is being followed by major newspapers all over the world, which are also suffering from funding and distribution crises. The plan also aims at keeping pace with the fourth technological revolution and rapid developments in the field of communications.

Details of the project and its implementation phases are expected to be announced within the next few weeks.
