EMA warns of heavy rains, torrents in Autumn 2018

Chairman of the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) Ahmed Abdel Aal announced on Sunday that the Autumn Season, starting on September 22, would see unstable and bad weather across the country.

Abdel Aal explained there would be more rain and thunder clouds accompanied by an outpouring of heavy rainfall on the northern coasts, notably in the Alexandria governorate and torrents on Upper Egypt governorates, the Red Sea and Sinai mountains.

The EMA stated it would inform all governors and officials on the preparations required to combat the heavy rains, protecting people, buildings and roads alongside securing the movement of tourism and traffic nationwide.

The EMA will also release warning statements to governorates at risk of bad weather 72 hours prior to their occurrence.
