Fire in Assiut village injures 17, burns 40 houses after gas explosion

A huge fire injured 17 people and damaged 40 houses and a livestock barn on Monday evening in the village of Etmaneya, Assiut governorate.
 
The fire started in a house after a gas cylinder exploded, quickly spreading to adjacent houses, according to emergency services.
 
Police and fire trucks were deployed to the area to control the fire.
 
The injured were transferred by ambulance to Al-Badary Central Hospital.
 
No deaths were reported, nor details given on the seriousness of the injuries.
 
Investigators have been tasked with identifying the cause of the incident, which has been registered with the prosecution.
