FM conveys message from Sisi to Bashir

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry conveyed a verbal message from President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir that expressed Sisi's appreciation of Sudan's leadership, government and people and his keenness to develop and strengthen bilateral relations.

He wished Sudan progress, growth, prosperity, security and stability. 

Shoukry conveyed the message during a meeting between Shoukry and the Sudanese President  in Khartoum on the sidelines of the meetings of the Political Consultations Committee between Egypt and Sudan, the official spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said.

Shoukry briefed President al-Bashir on the results of the discussions of the political consultations committee between the two countries, adding that the meetings were characterized by mutual transparency and keenness to strengthen relations through greater horizons of cooperation.

He stressed the importance of protecting bilateral relations from "tendentious" parties aimed at undermining them.

During his speech at the start of the meetings of the Committee at the Sudanese Foreign Ministry headquarters in Khartoum, Shoukry said the meetings represent a new opportunity to discuss issues of common concern and explore ways of developing bilateral relations between the two countries.

AFP reported that both countries agreed not to allow opposition groups to establish activities in one another's countries.

The Sudanese Foreign Minister Ibrahim Ghandour, said in a press statement, following the meetings of the political consultations committee: "We renew our firm position, which was agreed on during recent meetings in Cairo, to not to allow Egyptian political opposition groups to establish any activities in the Sudanese territory."
