Former prosecutor general’s appeal rejected, permanently dismissed from office

The Supreme Judicial Disciplinary Board has rejected an appeal filed by former Prosecutor General Talaat Abdallah against dismissing him permanently from office.

Abdallah did not attend the appeal session nor any other previous session. His lawyer, who represented him in all hearings, also did not attend.

He was charged with installing surveillance devices in the prosecutor general’s office by direct order.

His lawyer, Mohsen Fadl, had said in his argumentation that the law of bids allows the minister of justice and judicial officials, including the prosecutor general, to contract by direct order in limits of LE100,000, while the devices cost LE88,000.
