Gas-cylinder explosion in Cairo’s Marg area leaves 12 injured

A gas-cylinder explosion in Cairo’s Marg area on Tuesday evening left 12 people injured, according to an Interior Ministry statement.

The victims sustained burns and other injuries following the explosion in the ground floor of a property.

The statement said that firefighters rushed to the scene. The explosion rocked the ground floor of a 5-story building, which has been used as a store for old refrigerators and spare parts.

The statement said that a fire in the store caused by a leak from a gas cylinder of a car that was inside the scrap led to explosion in refrigerators Freon containers.

The owner of the store and 11 other people were injured in the accident. They were taken to the hospital for treatment. The property and the adjacent property were damaged, and the residents have been evacuated.
