Genetic engineering, nanotechnology a priority: deputy minister

Genetic engineering and nanotechnology applications for the production of new and renewable energy should become a priority in scientific research, said Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Essam Khamis.

“Modern scientific applications, desalination, biomedicine and quick-win projects” should also be on top of the agenda of scientific research in Egypt, Khamis said in statements on Tuesday.

“Ideas and research by Egyptian researchers and innovators should be tapped into…in order to materialize scientific research,” he added.
