German passenger dies during flight’s emergency Cairo landing

The pilot of a private plane flying from Hurghada to Germany had to make an emergency landing at Cairo International Airport on Tuesday when a German passenger's health began to rapidly deteriorate. An examination has revealed that the passenger died minutes before the plane landed.

The cabin crew had asked the pilot to make an emergency landing to save the 54-year-old passenger. The pilot then contacted Cairo's air traffic control and requested a doctor to examine the patient.

The passenger's body has been transferred to a hospital near the airport and the German Embassy has been notified of the death.

The plane resumed its flight one hour after touching down in Cairo.
