Habib al-Adly not released yet

Former Interior Minister Habib al-Adly is still detained at Tora Prison awaiting his release, as the procedures have not been concluded yet, according to a security source in the Prison Department.

Essam al-Battawy, al-Adly's lawyer, said his client will be released within a few days, adding that he was given a one-month sentence for not carrying out a verdict, which, he said, will be settled.

Major General Mahmoud Farouq, Head of the Gublic Department of the Giza Investigations office, said he did not receive any notification from the Prison Department regarding al-Adly's release. All the necessary legal measures will ne taken, after a notification is received confirming al-Adly is not involved in other cases, he added.

On Thursday, al-Adly has received the fourth and final acquittal in the illicit gains case, after he had been cleared of charges of killing protesters during the 25 January revolution. He served a three-year sentence in the lawsuit known as the forced labor case, after the court rejected his appeal.
