Health insurance workers protest in Cairo, governorates

Dozens of health insurance workers protested on Sunday in Cairo, Giza and other governorates to demand that a cadre of specialists be made available to them, like other workers in the Health Ministry and university hospitals have access to.

Protesters said they demonstrated to demand their rights.

Dr Soheir Abdel Rahman, director of the Health Insurance department in Cairo, said the protesters' demands are not their guaranteed rights, adding that she reported them to National Security Agency and filed claims against them with the police over the suspension of work.

Abdel Rahman said protested occured at only six clinics in Cairo.

"I accused them of [neglecting[ health services in their clinics, in official police claims," she explained.
