Egypt’s Health Minister Hala Zayed issued a decree stating that the national anthem, followed by doctor’s oath, shall be broadcast through the radios of all hospitals across Egypt.
She explained that this decision reinforces the values of belonging to Egypt to all listeners in hospitals, whether it’s the patient or medical staff, adding that the broadcast will remind doctors of the principles of humanity, the basics of their service.
Zayed held a meeting on Tuesday with the head of the Compulsory Egyptian Medical Training Authority Yasser Soliman, the Head of the Egyptian Medical Syndicate (EMS) Hussain Khairy, deputy head of EMS Osama Abdel Hai, and head of the Egyptian High Committee of Medical Specialties Osama al-Shazly.
Zayed said that the Ministry will also pay for the cost of training doctors enrolled in the Egyptian Board, masters, and PHD degrees.
In related news, Zayed received UNICEF’s Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa Geert Cappelaere to promote cooperation between them within the areas of health and the expanded vaccination program, especially for vaccination of meningitis as the school season approaches.
