25 persons killed, 238 injured on first, second days of Eid: Health ministry

The Egyptian Health Ministry has declared the death of 25 persons and injury of 238 others on the first and second days of Eid in several accidents in different governorates.

Dr. Sherif Wadei, Deputy Minister for Critical Care and Emergency, said in remarks that eight of the victims drowned in Minya, Zagazig, Alexandria and Aswan; while 222 persons were wounded in road accidents in Cairo, Hurghada, Marsa Matrouh and Alexandria. Nine cases were suspected of being poisoned. All the injured were transferred to hospitals for treatment.

Health Ministry Spokesperson Khaled Megahed said the campaign ordered to by launched by the minister is still working on ensuring the health requirements needed for workers at food facilities during the Eid holiday and the summer vacation.
