Hostage Egyptian drivers’ crisis to be resolved soon

The dilemma of Egyptian drivers held captive by Libyan militants in Ajdabiya since Tuesday will be resolved soon, officials from the Egyptian and Libyan sides said Thursday.

Around 400 Libyan and Egyptian drivers were reportedly held captive at the Libyan city.

Spokesperson of Egypt's Foreign Ministry, Badr Abdel Aaty, told MBC Masr satellite channel late Wednesday that the crisis would be resolved soon.

Adel al-Qaedy, who heads a reconcilation committee at the Libyan Defense Ministry, told Egypt's state-run news agency MENA that the crisis is witnessing a detente and that the vehicles held by protesting militamen are starting to enter Libyan territory. He said that an agreement with the captors was reached to disburse their delayed payments.
