Hot weather predicted for Thursday

The Egyptian Metrological Authority (EMA) expects warm weather along the country’s northern coasts on Thursday. Hot weather will dominate Lower Egypt, Cairo, and north Upper Egypt. Very hot weather is predicted in south Upper Egypt in daylight and milder temperatures will prevail all over the country through the night.

Mist will affect viability in the morning along the north coast, Lower Egypt, Cairo, and the Suez Canal cities.

Low and medium level cloud cover is expected for the northern coasts and winds are anticipated to be moderate and mostly northwesterly in direction.

Waves in the Mediterranean and Red seas will be light and range between 1 and 1.5 meters. Northeasterly surface winds are predicted in the Mediterranean, and northwesterly surface winds are predicted in the Red Sea.

Maximum temperatures predicted for the following cities are as follows: 32C in Cairo, 25C in Alexandria, 33C in Qena, 34C in Luxor, and 34C in Aswan.

Mahmoud Shaheen, director of the Center for Forecasts and Analysis of the EMA, said on Wednesday that a heat wave coming from Sudan will hit Egypt and will culminate on Saturday.

Shaheen said in a phone call on Sada Al-Balad channel that the wave is expected to get milder on Sunday, and that temperatures will return to normal around Monday.
