Imam referred to interrogation for lauding Sisi

The Minister of Endowments Mohamed Gomaa referred an imam in the Red Sea governorate for interrogation for reciting a eulogy on Defense Minister Abdel Fattah al-Sisi before a number of ministry leaders at the mosque.

“The mosques are dedicated to calling to God only, not for political purposes,” Gomaa said.

Three thousand imams who belong to Al-Azhar will soon be employed at Ministry of Endowment mosques to make up for a shortage of imams, ranging between 30 and 40 percent nationwide, Gomaa said.
