Inflation rate up 4.1% in July

The Central Bank of Egypt announced on Wednesday that there was a 4.1 percent increase in the monthly inflation rate in July, and a 6.9 percent increase in the annual rate.

In its calculations, the bank did not take into account prices of commodities that are determined administratively, as well as other prices that are affected by temporary supply shocks. This applies to 4.19 percent of all commodities.

Prices of volatile commodities, such as fruits and vegetables, which make up 8.8 percent of all commodities, were also not taken into account.
