Justice ministry: Mubarak trial will accommodate up to 600

An official from the justice ministry said Saturday that the hall where ousted President Hosni Mubarak will be tried can hold up to 600 people.

The trial, which is set for Wednesday, 3 August, will include Mubarak’s sons, Alaa and Gamal, former Interior Minister Habib al-Adly and six of his assistants.

Deputy Justice Minister Mohamed Manei confirmed that only state television will carry a live broadcast of the trial.

Manei added that he has gone with security and military leaders to the Police Academy in northeast Cairo to inspect the hall, checking on security and methods of access for those set to attend the trial.
