Justice Ministry raids houses of former officials

The Justice Ministry's Illicit Gains Authority has been searching the residences of several former officials as part of ongoing corruption investigations, an official judicial source told state-run MENA.

According to the source, the ministry has formed technical committees which are conducting the raids. The searches have yielded important documents relevant to several investigations.

The source added that the authority is continuing to respond to reports concerning the alleged illegal gains of Mubarak-era officials.

Authority head Assem al-Gohary had previously announced in late September that investigations into corruption cases involving former regime officials, including the former president and his family, had ended.
