Kuwait deports 9 Egyptians over embassy protests

Kuwait's Deputy Prime Minister Mohamed Khaled al-Hamad al-Sabah has ordered the deportation of nine Egyptian nationals who had took part in protests outside the Egyptian and American embassies there to condemn current violence in Egypt.

Kuwaiti newspaper al-Rai said Monday that criminal investigators had summoned nearly 67 Egyptians over the demonstrations. Investigators released 32 whom they found to have not taken part in the rallies.

The newspaper, however, said more people are to be summoned for interrogation. It noted that the nine meant for deportation were found to have taken video footages of the protests and that security identified them through the license plates of their cars which were present at the demonstrations.

Al-Rai added that the nine Egyptians will be given a week to arrange for their departure along with their families.

Kuwaiti security authorities routinely warns foreign workers against taking part into protests.
