Libyan parliamentary delegation visits Egypt’s House of Representatives

A delegation from the Libyan parliament visited the Egyptian House of Representatives on Saturday.

The delegation was received by MP Ahmed Raslan, Chairman of the Arab Affairs Committee of the Egyptian House of Representatives, Saad al-Jammal, Deputy Speaker of the Arab Parliament, and Mohammad al-Orabi, a member of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Egyptian House of Representatives.

The delegation visited the museum of the parliament, which includes Egyptian parliamentary history as well as the main hall of the parliament which dates back to more than 150 years.

MP Ahmad Raslan, chairman of the Arab Affairs Committee in the House of Representatives, conveyed greetings to the delegation through Ali Abdel-Aal, the Speaker of the Egyptian parliament.

Raslan said Abdel-Aal has harnessed all of the House of Representatives’s tools to serve the Libyan cause.

Raslan added that Libya’s national security is national security for Egypt, stressing that Egypt would spare no effort to resolve the crisis and reach a consensus between the Libyan parties.

For her part Ebtisam al-Rubai, a member of the Libyan House of Representatives, said that “there is a suspicious Turkish role in the increase of the crisis in Libya, by supporting militias with arms and money.”

“The Turkish role is well known to all, causing casualties and negatively affecting Libya’s security and stability. Our priority now in Libya is to eliminate terrorism,” she said.

She noted the importance of Egypt’s role in supporting the Libyan people, saying: “We as members of the Libyan House of Representatives look forward to the role of Egypt and its parliament in our support at the international and African levels.”
