Military court acquits 11 who protested on Friday for ‘reclaiming the revolution’

A military court on Sunday 11 acquitted suspects who protested before the Defense Ministry on 30 September, which marked the Friday of ‘reclaiming the revolution.’

Prosecutors accused them of assaulting civil servants and damaging the Kobri al-Qubba metro stop.

On 30 September, a number of activists gathered in front of the Defense Ministry to protest military trials for civilians. They also called on military council to hand over powers to a civilian council.

Protesters were banned from reaching the ministry by razor wire, as military police and central security forces guarded the ministry. Eleven protesters were arrested, and activists said that security forces clashed with protesters, some of whom went to the metro stop.

The activists said that unknown elements surrounded them inside the station and smashed the glass from outside.
