Minister criticizes Ramadan TV drama

The series and programs being shown on satellite channels are not commensurate with the month of Ramadan, as they are full of offensive scenes, smoking, drug addiction, violence and other scenes violating human rights, argues Population Minister Hala Yusuf.

She stressed the important role of art and its effect on the society, being as important as the role of the family and the school.

The minister stressed in a statement for the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, yesterday, the importance of applying ethical code of conduct on drama, media and ads, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.

Yusuf said drama has behavioral and psychological effects on citizens especially children and youth.

The national strategy of the Childhood and Motherhood council 2015-2020 includes programs to back the role of the media, according to the minister.

Yusuf called for focusing dramas beneficial for children and family and that contributes to strengthening customs and traditions.
