Minister: Sons of martyrs to be exempted from university fees

Higher Education Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar has announced that sons of martyrs are to be exempted from paying the fees of public and privately-owned universities.

While opening the first specialized hospital at Banha University on Sunday, Abdel Ghaffar said the number of students admitted to universities this year increased by around 500,000, making the total number of students admitted nationwide reach 2.8 million.

“58 new faculties will open this year with investments of LE9 billion. Privately-owned universities will be increased nationwide from 10 to 26 institutions with investments of LE11 billion,” the minister said.

University hospitals, according to Abdel Ghaffar, nationwide afford 60 percent of the medical service rendered to citizens.

Meanwhile, al-Sayyed al-Qadi, Banha University president, said the new hospital was established in coordination with the armed forces at costs exceeding LE1 billion.
