Minister:Standards on usage of coal to be discussed next week

Minister Khaled Fahmy has announced that in one week the Justice Ministry will go over the draft of standards offered by the Environment Ministry over the usage of coal.

In remarks to the state-run news agency MENA, Fahmy said, “discussing this subject matter takes time and effort. The issue should be finalized before the economic summit in March so it can be reviewed by cabinet once the Justice Ministry approves it.”

Fahmy slammed rumors over his ministry’s approval of using coal in the cement industry as per international standards. He indicated that its usage has been adopted in many developed countries as an energy alternative throughout several industries in order to take advantage of its economic profits.
