Ministry: Mobile subscriptions down 4.40%, Internet up by 24.75%

Mobile subscriptions have seen a decline in their annual growth rate from 99.70 million users in December 2013, to 95.32 million users in December 2014, a decline of 4.40 percent, according to the Communication and Information Technology Ministry.
 
The mobile penetration rate fell 7.29 percent annually, from 118.19 percent in December 2013 to 110.90 percent in December 2014, as shown in a ministry report for January 2015 that was released on Tuesday. 
 
Internet lines subscriptions, however, surged from 38.75 million users in December 2013 to 48.34 million users in December 2014, at an increase of 24.75 percent. Accordingly, the internet penetration rates have jumped from 45.93 percent in December 2013 to 56.24 percent in December 2014.
