Morsy arrives to court for 3rd session in prison break trial

Toppled president Mohamed Morsy arrived from Tora Prison in Cairo to the Police Academy to attend the third trial session run by the Cairo Criminal Court over charges related to his escape from prison during the 2011 uprising.

State-run MENA quoted a security source saying the president was brought to court amid high security measures, adding that the other 130 defendants in the case, including Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas and Hezbollah members had also arrived.

The court on Saturday postponed the trial to Monday after the lawyer of pro-Brotherhood Islamic preacher Safwat Hegazy asked to recuse the judges from handling the case.

The defendants are accused of invading 11 prisons, assaulting police departments and kidnapping four officers in February 2011.
