A mosque in Motobas, Kafr al-Sheikh collapsed today soon after everyone had left after morning prayers. No injuries were reported.
The mosque has historical significance and comes under the jurisdiction of the antiquities authority.
So far, the cause of the collapse of the mosque–built in the previous century–is not known. The police have cordoned off the site and say they have asked the antiquities authority to carry out their own investigations into the accident.
