Mubarak retrial adjourned to Tuesday

The Cairo Criminal Court adjourned on Sunday the retrial of toppled President Hosni Mubarak, his sons Alaa and Gamal, former Interior Minister Habib al-Adly, six former top deputies and businessman Hussein Salem until Tuesday, 29 April, in order to hear the defense of Adly Fayed, former assistant interior minister.

The former president and the other defendants are being charged with killing protesters during the 2011 revolution and financial corruption.

Former assistant interior minister for public security Adly Fayed will have his defense plea on Tuesday as well as Major General Ahmed Ramzy, former deputy interior minister for the central security sector, whose defense plea was originally scheduled for Sunday.

Mubarak appeared wearing a suit before the retrial session started and waved to the attendees. He later became ill inside the dock and had to receive first aid from medics.
