Mubarak trial plaintiffs consider change of judge and new witnesses

A number of lawyers representing revolutionary martyrs in the Mubarak murder trial have said they would consider demanding a change of judge and that prosecutors bring forth new witnesses in the case.

They claim new witnesses are needed, as several key prosecution witnesses have changed their testimonies in the last hearing in favor of the defendants.

A judicial source said that only four witnesses out of 1632 were questioned in the session, and that the prosecution is not responsible for them changing their testimonies.

The source also explained that the court has the right to question those witnesses again.

A lawyer representing the defendants said the witnesses did not change their testimonies but have only rephrased what they said before.

The court is reconvening under tighter security on Wednesday in order to prevent more clashes between Mubarak’s supporters and opponents. It will hear the testimonies of three more witnesses from the Central Security Forces who are expected to testify against the defendants.
